Road Risks - Your Choice package

Road Risks - Your Choice

Client - Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA)

2004

Road Risks - Your Choice is a comprehensive road safety education resource developed for the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) in consultation with the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Commission NSW and the Association of Independent Schools of NSW.

The resource is designed to assist secondary school students in thinking about safer behaviour on the road, particularly using skateboards, travelling in cars and as pedestrians. It is based on key messages about identifying and reducing risk, making safe decisions and being proactive about personal safety in the road environment.

The package contains an interactive CD-ROM, a video and DVD, as well as activities which all link to the mandatory NSW Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Syllabus for Years 7–10.

Strong support for teachers has been incorporated in the form of a teacher manual, as well as taking the teaching context into account when designing each of the activities. Most activities are flexibly designed to cater for individual users, small groups or class involvement.
